This happens to be one of my favorite engagement sessions of all time. Maybe it was the way Ashten and Trent’s playful, yet deeply rooted chemistry translated perfectly through the lens into an image that told their love story, exactly the way I hoped it would.
Or it could have been the fact that she got ready in the sandy, dimly lit, cement floored, beach restroom a half hour before her session started, after having toured Pearl Harbor all day (after flying over from Texas 2 days before and Kauai the morning of) I mean who can naturally and effortlessly, look that good? Seriously?! As if that weren’t enough, she has an equally good heart to match her beauty.
And then there’s Trent. Ashten’s man, her love. They met in Texas, my home state, where the stars are bright and the horizons endless. They dated long distance, while he was away at a university in the PNW. Then on her 25th birthday, he proposed to her on a cruise in the Bahamas. Romance? Yes, please. I mean not every guy says, “Sure, babe let’s fly all the way to Hawaii for our engagement session. Why not?”
Just FYI. There is a lot of kissing. With a love that good, I would too 😉 Well, I do. Kiss. A lot. That is. (Shout out to my husband, Ivan, of 7 years-love you babe!)
Wishing you both adventures and love to last a life time.
With warmest aloha,
Crystal Chanel

Beautiful pictures!!! I love the colors and atmosphere you captured!!!
These photos are absolutely gorgeous!!! Literally drooling over them…LOVEEEE. What beach is this?
Oops, just seeing this. Thanks Emily! I usually shoot all my sessions with the Canon 35 L. It almost never comes off my camera. I’m not even sure why I take other lenses to the shoot with me, I never end up using them.
My Amiga, beautiful as always! May God bless your union! Miss you!
These are soooooo beautiful! Great job, Crystal! What lens do you use as your main portrait lens?
